Singapore to Kuala Lumpur & beach recommendations
I am looking for advice on the cheapest way to get from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur. Is hiring a cab/car a possibility? If so, does anyone have any ideas how much that trip might cost?
Also, is it my understanding that the West coast beaches of Maylaysia aren't as picturesque as the East coast beaches? Can anyone recommend beach destinations between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur?
Thanks

the way we did it was to fly on malay air, but we did not depart at the singapore airport....we took a bus from the novotel hotel in singapore to the airport across the water in JH---1/2 hour to 45 minute ride with immigration in the middle of the bridge---beware of traffic back-ups at certain times like weekends....it was less than 1/2 the price...

If you are looking for a cheap option. Try a bus. I made this trip a few years ago and it was clean and comfortable. I can't quite remember the price, but it was very reasonable. Check out a Lonely Planet guide on SE Asia for the price and details.

The express buses/coaches are indeed the cheapest and in fact the most convenient. These coaches are 'luxury' coaches with only about 16 to 23 seats on board, some with own mini television, massage chairs and on-board meals. Try these sites: www.transtar.com.sg, www.aeroline.com.sg. Should cost approximately SGD$30 per way.

I would suggest taking one of those luxury buses. There's not that much time savings by flying and costs much less. KL airport is out of the city so it takes time to get there.
This time of the year the East coast beaches are affected by monsoon season. There's great beaches at Pangkor and Langkawi. They're both islands off the West Coast. There's beautiful hotels there as well.
As both beach destinations between Singapore and KL there's Port Dickson but the beach isn't that great. Pangkor or Langkawi would be better choice.
