Singapore locals: place to shop for arts and crafts supplies/eyeglasses.

Is there a good store to buy arts and crafts supplies like Chinese paintbrushes, ink stamps, tools for making pottery? A store like Hobby Lobby here in the US?

Is Singapore a good place to get eyeglasses made? Glasses here in the US run at least $200. If there is a savings I can bring my prescription. Have had luck in the past having glasses made in HK and KL.

the place to go for art n craft supplies is Bras Basah complex behind Raffles Hotel(Raffles city MRT)

For eyewear the biggest is ICU in Suntec Mall.(Raffles City MRT, walk in the other direction) Unless you want some designer boutique ones..

If you are looking for the equivalent of a Michaels (US store) in Singapore, you should go to SpotLight - its an Australian chain located at Plaza Singapura shopping Center.

Yes, I'm looking for the equivalent of Michael's. No, I don't want designer eyeglasses. These asuggestions are great as we are staying at Swissotel Stamford, right on top of Raffles City. Thanks for the ideas.
How about a place to get a hanko (Chinese stamp) custom made?

Chinatown will be the place to start for Chinese paintbrushes, stamps etc. If you can't find it there, someone may be able to tell you where to look.
