Singapore hotel rooms - 2 adults/one child

Is it me or is it very difficult to get a hotel which caters to allowing a child to sleep in the same hotel room as their parents? I've been doing a search to try and find a hotel in Singapore which will give me two double beds at the most or one double bed and a sofa bed or a rollaway bed at the very least and find there aren't too many options.

What do other families do? Book two rooms? Are there apartments to rent?

Travel dates are end of October to early November for 8 nights. At this stage I've targeted the Stamford for around $2600.00A. I would prefer not to stay on Orchard Road, and a pool at the hotel would be great, but not estential. I personally like the location of the Intercontinental but they seem to only allow 2 adults per room.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Swisshotel Stamford is a great location, but the rooms are a bit small. The sister hotel at the same location is Raffles the Plaza, which has larger rooms and you might check with them.

I'm suprised that you can't find rooms with two double beds - that's pretty common, in my experience. And many places allow a child to share a room with parents for free.

You are talking about 2600 Singapore dollars/night?

We like The Carlton. It is reasonably priced and the night manager, Mr.
Nor, is so accommodating. He got us a room when the entire town was booked solid. He had remembered us from a previous visit. Perhaps he can help you. P.Wilson

I should have said that I am looking at discount hotel websites, not going direct to the hotel's official website. Quite often the option is for one king bed or two singles - not quite what we want. Daughter is 13 so just over the "free" age!

I think Raffles the Plaza is out of our price range Kathy. It is more expensive than the Stamford.

Mjs, the $2,600 is Australian $ for the 8 nights.

Koreaprincess, I do like the look of the Carlton, and have just found a price around $1900A. And they have a pool too.

Many thanks for the comments. Mac123

While I usually book with discount hotel websites, I find that sometimes dealing with the hotel directly gives a better price. And they can tell you exactly what kinds of beds they have. You might call or email the Swisshotel Stamford. It's a great location!

The Novotel Clarke Quay lets children under 16 stay in the same room for free. I don't know that you will get the price any cheaper through an discount website as Accor tries to match it. The cheapest webdeal on their site is AUD 157 per night or SGD 1930.00

We really liked the Four Seasons Regent for the price. An executive suite with 75 sq meters was fine for two adults and two teenagers and the cost last November was around $235 US per night which is abit more than you want but close. It is however near Orchard road but Singapore is so small and transportation so inexpensive that I would not imagine it would make that much difference. I must also say that I am somewhat surprised that you are having much trouble at all finding one hotel room for two adults and a child. Finding one room for four is much more difficult outside of North America and Australia and New Zealand.

Almost every hotel allows 1 child under 12 free when sharing but sometimes that is not an extra bed, so some charge a small fee for an extra bed, should be no problem at all, Allson always did us well and 1 extra bed for 2 kids and we just paid a small charge though we did have to pay for the breakfasts for them.

Thank you everyone for your comments. I guess I know I am restricting myself by placing conditions on where to stay: ie, prefer to stay around Intercontinental/Stamford hotel area; want a pool and a room that will comfortably fit 2 adults and a teenage girl (we girls like some space) and if I need to put a rollaway in the room it would be nice to not have to jump over it to get to the bathroom in the middle of the night; and it is for 8 nights which is a long time for 3 people in a small room.

Anyway, I'll keep looking and like Kathy suggests, I'll contact the hotels direct and see what response I get.

Thanks again.

Perhaps have a look at Fraser Place at Robertson Walk, that would give you plenty of room / space, they do daily and weekly artes, you get breaklfast, swimming pool, gym, sauna etc, cafe etc.
