Singapore club rooms

I'll be 3nts in Singapore just as a stopover/rest stop and would like a club room at one of the hotels. Am trying to decide between the Conrad, Swissotel, Shangri-la or maybe Intercontinental. I will be a single female and interested in some shopping(Little India/Arab too) pool and spa time and want a club floor with champagne. I've been to Singapore before(long time ago) and like to walk but not so much in that heat-what hotel do you recommend? MRT is not impt to me as I can take cabs. Thanks

On a recent trip to Singapore, we stayed at The Intercontinental and at Raffles The Plazza. At both hotels we booked the club floor. Whilst both were very good , our clear favourite was Raffles the Plazza. Little India and Arab quarter are easy walks from either hotel. These hotels are not far from each other, and we felt, ideally located.

Not on your list, but I've stayed on the Club Floor of the Royal Plaza on Scotts Road several times and they've served champagne on request. The hotel is a stone's throw from Orchard Road and the Orchard MRT or you can catch a cab right outside the hotel (FYI Singapore hotel rates have skyrocketed and cabs aren't the deal they used to be - lots of surcharges).

Have a good trip.

Just noticed you mentioned 'spa time'. No spa at Royal Plaza that I'm aware of - I just zeroed in on 'champagne'.

I'd also recommend Raffles the Plaza. There is a wonderful spa there.

I do use the MRT - it's so convenient. And there is an MRT station below the hotel.

Oh, I'm sorry, you're right, it has recently been purchased by the Fairmont. I keep forgetting that.

Thanks! The Swissotel is at that same location too-are they about the same quality as the Fairmont?

Personally, I don't believe they are of the same quality. The rooms are smaller at the Swisshotel, for instance, and the service is not as good. But the location is great, and the Swisshotel is certainly not a bad hotel by any means.

Yes, it is part of the Fairmont, but, from memory, I think you need to be careful when making your booking to specify Raffles The Plazza. There are two towers north and south. Both have club floors but RTP is located in the south tower......I think.

I will use the Fairmont website so hopefully, no problems there? Also hoping they serve champagne in their club rooms!

The changes in ownership/management of this hotel makes it very confusing. Originally, both hotels in the complex were Westins (The Plaza and the Stamford). A number of years ago, the two hotels came under separate management/ownership and became the Swisshotel the Stamford and Raffles the Plaza. Most recently, the old Westin Plaza/Raffles the Plaza became the Fairmont Singapore. The Westin Stamford which became the Swisshotel the Stamford is still under Swisshotel management.

So if you book on the Fairmont website, there is not opportunity for confusion, as the Swisshotel is not associated with the Fairmont so is not listed on the site. I expect that plenty of hotel booking sites still list both old and new names, which can cause confusion. The Raffles the Plaza name is not used on the Fairmont website, only the Fairmont Singapore name.
