Singapore 17 hour stop over!!
Hi Fodorites,
My husband and I have a 17 3/4 hour stop over in Singapore on our way home to Australia. Can anyone give suggestions of what to do with our time.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Take a city tour (booths in the airport can arrange this), visit the zoo, the orchid gardens, maybe Sentosa Island. Take a ferry ride, have a nice meal, maybe visit Clarke Quay. Maybe visit Raffles Hotel and have a Singapore Sling at the Long Bar.
Loads of things.
Taxis are cheap, metered and safe. The MRT is even cheaper.
You can also book rooms in 6 hour blocks at the Ambassador Transit Hotel in the airport to get a few hours sleep. If you're not interested in sleep, but want to clean up a bit, you can also take a shower at the hotel for about S$10.
Have fun.
Singapore's a FINE city.

You can leave your carry on bags in the airport while you're off exploring. Just check the Changi site for location and prices.
You'll need your boarding passes to get back into the airport - if you don't have these when you arrive, suggest you check at the transit desk before you clear immigration.
NOTE: Some places in Singapore don't open until 10-11 (usually shopping related) - suggest you check opening times of places you're interested in.
