Another yes... Bangkok is quite safe to travel solo. I think the biggest danger is to breathe all of the exhaust fumes...

I'm tempted to say "No - horrors - jeez are you mad!!""

Dear travelnewbee - Bangkok is as safe as houses, and easy to travel around - bus, tuk-tuk, skytrail.

Oh, and don't forget the water buses plying the Chao Praya river.

Have an amazing time. To get the best out of a visit a good guide book is recommended and if you are a map freak, a map too (easily obtainable from many convenience stores) - or a less detailed one free at the airport.

I've never had any problems and have been going there for years and am female and travel alone. However, never totally let your guard down.I'm used to living in big cities and I'm as cautious abroad as I would be at home. A colleague of my best friend, who is a sherrif, was there a few years ago and was badly attacked. Just be cautious, but not paranoid, and be aware of your surroundings. Happy Travels!

absolutely safe. Obviously you are in a city so shouldn't be naive but I've never had a problem.

It also depends on where you are how safe you are. Just as in other big cities there are areas that are less safe than others. I avoid those (or am more careful) when I'm travelling just as I do when I'm in Chicago.
