recommendation of Singapore hotel needed
hi there
any recommendation for hotel room in Singapore - budget around S$80-150?
preferably around city centre, near orchard, Raffles city or quay area
is Geylang area really dodgy?
the rates there are relatively cheaper from other areas (after I google it)
cheerz

Grand Central Hotel (3 Star) Hotel, 132 SGD, it is quite good hotel. Hotel locate in Orchard Area. Just a short walking distance away you will find yourself in Singapore best Shopping stree..The nearest MRT station to reach us is Dhoby Ghaut MRT station.

Singapore's red light district is located in Geylang. Which hotel are you talking about in Geylang? Some hotels in Geylang may not be really near to train stations which are the best and comfortable way to get to major shopping areas for tourists.

Grand Central rates should be around SGD 90-120 only. If you want a tourist level hotel then not bad but unless they have refurbished recently rooms are tired and worn, but walue is ok as long as you are not paying anything more than I would say SGD 115 because otherwise better hotels come into rates more than that.
Also the nearest MRT station is 'not' Dhoby Ghaut is is "Somerset" which is across Orchard Road next to where the Phoenix is and that is a very short walk from Grand central, Dhoby Ghaut is the next staion up!
Metropolitan Y should be under SGD 100 with breakfast, tax and everything, on Stevens Road, walk to Scotts/Orchard, Pool /Gym etc, don't expect lux but value for money. Royal at Queens and Allson both should be under SGD 150 with breakfast, tax etc, this is Bugis area but the Allson does have good facilities, pool/gym, large hotel, popular for mid range travelers needing a reasonable hotel for a few days, and Bugis Junction shopping is ok and the SMRT there.
Watch for times when there are large exhibitions going on as rooms get booked up.

We were in Sing this past summer & stayed at the Albert Court Hotel- very charming & very close to Little India. We got an executive courtyard family room which had 2 double beds with a couch which allowed our family of 5 with 3 children to fit for less than $150 with breakfast in some websites. we chose not to have breakfast there tough.
