Dear Barbara
I went on a tailor-made holiday to India (visited Delhi, Udaipur, Jaipur, Agra, Orccha, Khajuraho and Varanasi)in September 2001 with Transindus. The tour was fantastic - very well organised and went like clockwork. I can certainly recommend Transindus. They also run group tours - get their brochure. Please get in touch if you have any questions.

Bonjour Barbara
We were in Rajasthan last march and went with a private driver for a 12 days tour. The travel agency is called Travel corporation India (TCI. We had very good service at a good price. They are located on Connaught avenue in the center of Delhi.

What was the tour company that you used that you didn't like? What didn't you like about them? Fodors recommends several tour companys in its' fodor's india book, perhaps one of those would be good.

We visited India for the first time in November. We were EXTREMELY skeptical about our travel agent and the way things are done differently in India, however, we can not say enough good things about them. We used Coleague Tours, [email protected]. We were totally impressed with them and their fine service-they provided a good guide and drivers and it seemed that every wish was their command. They were very reasonably priced, as I compared them to another agency and when they had slightly higher prices for one or two hotels, they re-negotiated their rates to match the other. We got extremely personal service and were met at the airport by one of the owners with a bouquet of flowers. I'd be happy to give you more details if you wish.

Dear Barbara,

I have travelled a lot in India and my last trip was perfectly organised by Colours of India which is run by a small London based Tour Operator with excellent agents throughout India.

They provide a highly personalised service and all the consultants have travelled extensively throughout India and know some wonderful people and places which they gladly share with you. They tend to focus on the upper end of the market and only sell those places they have personally stayed at.

My trip in Oct 02 took me to Tickli Botton near Delhi - a stunning Lutyen's farm house run by the ex British Naval Attache to the British High Commission then on to Amar Vilas in Agra, Samode Haveli in Jaipur, Devi Garh in Delwara and finally UdaiVilas in Udaipur. Throughout I had the most fascinating guides and the most carefully chosen rooms. My consultant was called James and can be reached at [email protected]
