Reasonable
I know it depends where you eat and what you eat?
But on average what is reasonable to pay for breakfast, lunch, dinner in Thailand..everybody says it super cheap but I am hearing ..oh it costs 30$ for a buffet...Hello? that is the same price as in North America!!!
I canada I would say per person:
Breakfast is $5 to 10$
Lunch is $5 to 20$
Dinner is $20 to $50
Thanks,
David

You can easily eat for $10 at diner and $3 for lunch. If you eat at a 5 star hotel or restaurant it will cost anywhere from $25-75 (and there are only a couple in the $75 range)but a comparable restaurant in a major city in the U.S. would be $75-$150.

A number of the restaurant suggestions made on this forum are for cheap to moderate priced places. Harmonique, Gallery Cafe, Tongue Thai, Cabbages and Condoms will cost about $15-20 for two for dinner. At the Loft at Central Chitlom (a department store) lunch is about $10 for two. There are untold numbers of places where you can eat more cheaply than this. Even at the upscale hotels, you can eat relatively cheaply ( much cheaper than US or Canada) if you avoid the posh restaurants and stick to the more informal spots. Don't worry about large food costs. You can easily control them. All the guide books will sort out recommendations by price. Unless you opt for the expensive, the cost will be controllable.

dave---you will have no trouble finding meals under $20 for lunch and dinner except in the very top scale places....harmonique which is near your hotel will be $12 or less for a fabulous dinner as will tongue thai....dim sum at the conrad for lunch will be $15 and you may not eat for a week afterwards...
if you keep to bottled water and a beer or two you can keep the price way down and cokes as well
an upscale dinner at biscotti might be about $35 and it would compare to a $100+ dinner in canada...

Shee Shee restaurants will cost you $25-$75 in most major US cities- but you can eat really well for a lot less- just skip the Shee Shee places (you know the ones where the plates are huge, the portions small and decorated so nice that one wonders if they should just admire it!)

All the shopping malls have great "cheap and cheerful" food courts. I personally really like the one in Central Chitlom, the same one Bob refers to. Others worth a dekko are in Emporium and Siam Square. You can have a great, lavish lunch here for US$10 - I am suggesting lunch because they close by 9. In Central Chitlom the Indian food counter in the food court is especially good as is a restaurant on the first floor called The Curve Lane - you will have ahard time here spending more than US$5-7. EMporium also has a Japanese restaurant where the food is excellent - Aoi - $15/head max. On Soi Lung Suan opposite Central Chitlom 3/4 of the way down the Soi is a great Vietnamese restaurant, Thang Long. Lunch or dinner. $20/head if you order loads. IN Ekkamai is one of my fav Thai food restaurants - Coffee Bean - bit out of the way but great food. $15/head, need a reservation.
