rajasthan

I seek info on behalf of a friend who is computerless in Pune, India.
She is about to have a week of free time to spend traveling. She is interested in Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur & Agra. Wonders if they be feasible in a week's time and how best to hit them? Thanks

really depends on how immersed she wants to be in the each city and the sights. not sure about Jaisalmer..

Suggest that you fly into Udaipur then take train to jaipur and then agra. otherwise its working it from New dehli to agra ( taj mahal which is a 3hour drive one way) then train or fly.

Each location has a lot of incredible sights. i would do less and really immerse vs. getting to more places.

Hello,

I would suggest below travel plan:

1- Fly Udaipur
2- Sightseeing Udaipur
3- Drive to Jodhpur
4- Drive To Jaisalmer
5- Sightseeing and overnight train to Jaipur
6- Jaipur
7- Drive to Agra
8- Sightseeing and train to next destination.

Thanks

Cannot believe you can be computerless in Pune. What you really mean is that he/she hasn't the nouse or the bottle to go out and find an internet kaff.

If that's the case then it would be seriously funny to see he/her attempt the proposed itinery.

He/she obviously needs her/his hand held.

So no point in giving websites or advice on how to do it.

Complete waste of time.

Even if you knew what you were doing you can't do Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur & Agra in a week.

Suggest your friend either finds the courage to go outside, or at least susses out how to get to the railway station where he/she could buy a copy of "trains at a glance" and from that work out what is possible.

Msy one ask what your clueless friend is doing in Pune?

afterall seems a bit snarky today, but really, an internet cafe shouldn't be too hard to find. I was going to suggest a book shop and a guide book.

Travelindia's proposed itinerary is ludicrous. If she really wants to see the Taj, tell her to forget Jaisalmer.

Sorry, sorry ...

I over-reacted there. I do think you need a bit of gumption to travel in India independently, and it seemed odd that someone who may have been in Pune for a while hasn’t been able to find an internet café/travel agent. But there may be special circumstances.

To make amends I’ve done some hunting around. Turns out Pune is not an easy place to start from! I’ve left out Jaisalmer, and assumed a week is leaving Friday and returning Sunday. Even then it’s a tight squeeze to fit in all the other destinations. I used Fri 17/10 as start date. I also assumed money is no object, and will confess to never having taken an internal flight in India. Anyway, after several false starts (no availability being the big one) here is the best I can do.

Fri Indian Airways Pune to Delhi dep 1845 arr 2045.
Train from Delhi H Nizamuddin dep 2251 arr Jodhpur 0930 Sat,

Sat night Jodhpur

Sun Indian Airways Jodhpur to Udaipur dep 1430 arr 1510

Sun, Mon, Tue stay Udaipur

Wed Indian Airways Udaipur to Jaipur dep 1005 arr 1105

Wed, Thu, Fri nights stay Jaipur

Sat take bus to Agra; see Taj at dusk and dawn.

Sun take train to Delhi dep 1028 arr 1320 (there are two earlier options).

Sun Indian Airlines Delhi to Pune dep 1600 arr 1800.

This will be expensive. Could be done cheaper if Jodhpur or Udaipur were dropped. Flights available; don’t know about that first night train.

If the traveller could get to Mumbai airport mid-morning Fri then he/she could fly from there to Jodhpur.

Cheers.

Another one hit wonder on the Asia Board.

"Computerless in Pune" was highly suspect from the beginning. There are internet cafes at every fencepost in India.

And finally, usually one needs travel help BEFORE going to a country, not once one is already THERE!

And afterall's first reaction was completely correct.

I enjoy afterall. Yup, he does wake up kinda snarky, but the board is richer for that.
