PRINCE GALLERY HOTEL KIOICHO, Tokyo (Starwood)

Wondering if anyone on this forum has stayed at this hotel in Chiyoda-ku/Akasaka and if so, what are your thoughts. Especially interested in location, walkability to sights, shops, eating spots, transport, and indoor pool. I know quality of concierge is high and this isi one reason the hotel is now on my list. It is under the Marriot/Starwood umbrella and opened in 2016.

Have not stayed in the hotel but our apartment in Tokyo is literally across the street. Location: there is an entrance to the Nagatacho subway station in the basement of the building which is also connected to Akasaka-Mitsuke station: a main hub with five subway lines. Akasaka is an entertainment district for the government (Kioicho is on the fringe of the government district - should be a great view of the Diet from rooms facing in that direction) - so there's a wide range of restaurants and bars in the area, though the best may be tricky for the casual visitor to find. I think the location is ideal - I walk to the Ginza, the palace gardens, Shinjuku san-chome - but that's as a resident with lots of time. The hotel is right across the street from the New Otani so reviews of that property might give you a better idea of the location. I don't think you'd go wrong with the hotel itself: the Prince hotels are of a very high standard.

Boveny thank you very much for your comments. My post here relates to the one asking if the OP should cancel the trip due to inabillity of concierge to get into choice eating places.

My issue is sort of the opposite. There is a concierge who was at a ryokan near KAnazawa who so immpressed a fellow poster here that she gave me his namem to book t he ryokan and I then leanred that he had moved to the Prince Hotel. He has been so extraordinary helpful to me that I will likely give up my idea of staying at ShangriLa and go to this hotel, instead. IN no other coountry would I "follow" a concierge. But in Japan, as a relativie newcomer who has only been a few times,, long ago, I feel as if this person will be invaluable to me. Not to say that the concierges at other hotels would be in the least bit inferior. But from what I've read and especially for those interested in restaurants, although not necessarily the Jiro clique, I feel as if I will be well taken care of at the Prince Gallery. So good to hear we can walk to Ginza and other areas, for this is my supreme pleasure when traveling to urban areas.

So with your "blessing" I think I will book the hotel for a week in Tokyo.

Another thing I've noticed, the Hoshinoya gets so little discussion here although it is at the tippy top of the list as far as Tokyo hotels by trusted sources.....just curious....not going to stay there myself but wondering, questioning, as usual!!!

Again, Boveney, many thanks for your invaluable help on this forum over the years...

Need to clarify - while I walk to the Ginza from this area (and to Aoyama, Omotesando and Roppongi) - this is as a resident with lots of time as stated in original post. It's an hour's walk - as a tourist you most likely wouldn't take the time! But the hotel is next to Akasaka Mitsuke subway station and both of its main lines (Ginza and Marunouchi) go to the Ginza. If you are a keen walker and have lots of time, then a walk down past the Diet to the Imperial Palace and then the Ginza is very pleasant. But if you are on a tight schedule, you'd take the subway.

Re Hoshinoya - it's a hotel for the cognoscenti. PM Abe took Ivanka there for a kaiseki meal when Trump visited.
