Well I just registered on that web site but can't figure out how to get to the forum! Frustrating.

It was a while ago but I think they have to send you an invite via email telling you how to enter their forums.

Aloha!

Thanks, hopefully I'll hear from them soon. I am starting to get other people's messages via email.

Congratulations Monica - I have seen that that was a tough decision for you!

I'm off to the Chinese consulate to get my visa. I'll be sure to keep posting, as you mentioned.

Not too tough. Lots of good advise on Fodors! I've even come up with a tentative itinerary, although I want to do more research before I post it with my questions.

Sign me up for the Pre-Olympics club! Actually, the Olympics played little to no part in my decision, I've been wanted to go to China ever since I was a little kid trying to dig a hole in the yard deep enough to get there For the longest time, Italy ruined my hopes of ever traveling anywhere else in the world - I kept on returning there year after year. But I finally took the plunge and bought my plane ticket to China - October 2007 - I'm so excited!!!

Hi Shanghainese, I've just begun my planning, so I don't yet have much of an itinerary except arrive in Beijing and depart from Shanghai, a total of 17 nights in China. At this point I'm thinking of two intermediate stops, one a relatively small characteristic village, maybe one of the world heritage sights or places that come up in lists of "China's most charming towns." And also someplace with stunning landscapes. But... I have a ton of reading and researching to do, so we'll see! Looking forward to frequenting this forum as the planning continues
