Ponheary's brother

Dear Friends,
I contacted Ponheary who is not available for the time we are in Siem Reap, but she offered to book her brother, Dara, for us. I'm planning to go ahead but wanted to check here first. Has anyone used him as a guide?

I've been absent for a while from contacting you all for advice on our first trip to SE Asia - holidays have gotten in the way, but I'm slowly making my way out, and hope to begin planning again in earnest soon. We don't leave for BKK until March. I just wanted to wish you all a very wonderful holiday season, whatever it is you celebrate. Thank you all for the help you have provided so far.

Sharon

Dear Jules,

We'll be in SR from the 16th thru the 20th of March. We are very excited about this trip and visiting Angkor Wat has been a long-time dream for my husband. Thanks for the kind words. Sharon

We used Dara for three full days during our trip to Angkor. I can fully recommend him. He is very professional and will plan a good trip for you. We had specific sites that we wanted to visit and so he worked them into our plans. One of the best things about having him as a guide was that he managed to arrange things so that we would arrive at sites before many other tourists arrived or he would cleverly avoid the worst of the crowds. He is very informative and on the journeys between sites he would give us lots of information about Cambodian life, history, culture. He was also very helpful with recommendations for restaurants etc.

Hi Sharon,
We just got back from SR and had Dara as our tour guide. I just posted a report on our experience there, including information about Dara, who was excellent. You can read all about it on "Just back: terryr's report about SR, Part III." Have a great time! Please extend warmest wishest to Dara and his driver Raita (sp?) from Terry and Joseph Rothchild and their two daughters...thanks!

I just had a chance to look at my Cambodian photos for the first time today and was reminded that Dara made some great suggestions as to where the best spots are to take definitive photos according to the time of day, light etc. He also was able to point us to pools where we would get the perfect reflection of a particluar temple.
