just to be funny....it does not cost anything to plan a trip...it is free....to go there is relatively expensive, both getting there, staying there and eating there....there are many levels of expense...what do you need for accomodations??

airfare to maui depends on how far away ou're flying from; forexample, i prefer to fly directly to maui from san francisco -- i can get a fixed round ticket through united for @ $650 or so -- where you'd want to stay depends on your budget and your inclination for different levels of social interaction -- i prefer the napili bay/kapalua bay area on the north west side -- great snorkling coves -- trade winds blow, keeping it a bit cooler in summer than the south end of the island where the big, las vegas big, hotels have been built -- a lot of people like it down there because it's less windy and a tad less rainy in winter -- others like the more wet-tropical side of hana; dpends on your budget -- check out the island on line and then come back with more questions

Actually there are some of us on the Asia board who could plan a real nice Maui vacation for you. Be more specific on your budget and time that you have to travel and we'll toss you some suggestions.
Aloha!
