Graceland is lux place just across the road from the beach. Walking distance shops, restaurants etc. Busy but not 'righ in' the busiest part.
Standard rooms can overlook car park ! Pay extra for garden/pool view or seaview if you can afford.

It is one of the most luxurious and I don't know if you really want/need that top lux level (?)
Thara Patong or the 'Patong Beach Hotel' or H/Inn or Merlin are all good but probably cheaper than Graceland. I would say Graceland for couples who want some Lux in Patong that is close to beach and also close to activities/shopping/restaurants, but unless you are after a pricey lux place something like Thara Patong may suit you as well/better and save you money!
Note late Dec is absolute peak time.

Take a look at Kata Thani Resort on Kata Noi beach. Not lux, but nice. Several large swimming pools, plus nice beach to walk.

Shopping and night life is but a short taxi ride away, in Kata.

On this occasion I must disagree with James. Graceland is most certainly not lux!! Three star at best and no way one of the most luxurious Phuket hotels. We spent one night here last year and couldn't wait to get out of the place. Very, very poor by Phuket lux standards.

I suspect James, that you have no personal experience of this .....!!!!!

No doubt there will be others raving about Gracelands.....but our experience was very, very disappointing.

On the other hand, I think Thara Patong is a great alternative.
