Penang or Langkawi?
Hi
My husband and I found a great travel deal and are trying to decide between Penang or Langkawi, for 5 nights. It sounds like the beaches are better in Langkawi but more stuff to see in Penang? What are some day trip options from Penang? BTW, we would be staying at the Shangri-La Rasa Sayang. Thanks!

There is a lot to see in Penang.
You can take the tram up to the top of Penang Hill and walk around. Very nice views from up there.
Check out the Kek Lok Si Temple, the largest temple in Malaysia and very interesting.
There is also the Butterfly Park, the Tropical Fruit Farm, for fresh fruit in season, Snake farm, and if you have time
the Penang Bird Park is across the bridge. You could fly to Langkawi for the day.
We love Langkawi but it is a much slower pace there.

can't speak for penang....we did not go there because we decided it was too touristy and young paced for us...
langkawi on the other hand is laid back and quiet...go there to relax...there is not a great deal to see really...we did an around the island drive in a one day car rental and really saw it all..

im not sure if the travel deal your taking about is air/hotel packet or what. but in general Penang/langkawi should be used in a itinuary that may inclide KL or other places in south east asia.. you can take a plane too Kuala Lampour for under $3 .
