Thanks again for a phenomenal effort, Guen. Took my tote bag to a meeting yesterday. Showed it to a colleague who was amused that I was a part of an Asia Forum with an alias screen name.

Fred and I had a terrific time at our first ever GTG. Like Crosscheck, we were unable to attend the big GTG Saturday morning so Guen invited us to the out of towners dinners. What a great group of people. I'm glad you all posted the details of the weekend and the feats of Guen, the hostess with the mostess. Thank you Guen for all your splendid work, it sure paid off in a perfect party!

Well you all had a great time, hope someone will post some photos !

I think the waiter should have bough a large tray with one of those small white plastic 'coach-class' knives for Bob !

Carol, while you are enjoying yourself someone would love your "Mom Tri's Villa Royale" expertise, they are planning on Nov.

Kudos to Guen for a fabulous affair- it will be very hard for anyone to top this. We enjoyed meeting everyone and had a great time in Pasadena.

James A...There are no internet photos. I don't own a computer and although I bought a digital camera back in early December, from a TV shopping show, it's still sitting in the unopened box. I'll stick with my 25-plus year old Pentax ME and my Leica instamatic. I'm Old School. I'll figure out the digital hopefully before the next millenium. I'm much too busy to deal with it all right now. Smiles.Happy Travels!

I took photos, as did Bob. I need to figure out where to put them for viewing. I'll maybe use my web site.

Carol...I do not want my image on the internet. My friends, who were present at the GTG, probably don't want theirs on the internet either which is why I handed out the Announcement sheet at the GTG. Happy Travels!

Hi everyone,

I haven't been on Fodors in ages and thought I'd take a quick minute to see what's happening. What a disappointment to find out that there was a GTG nearby and I missed it. It would have been wonderful to put faces to the names I see all the time and everyone who helped me immensely with my past trips.

Glad to hear how wonderful it was and that everyone had a nice time.

Take care,
Judy

Bob and Karen
Have a safe trip home. Will you report on all the "other" places you went, besides the GTG in Pasadena?

Bob
Glad to see that you two must have made it home OK.

Re:your spelling... I had to read the invented spelling of my 1st graders for 33 years so yours is EASY... lol You know how to put in vowels, not just the consonant sounds!!

Tell Karen not to work too hard during her last couple of months of employment.

OK YOU LURKERS MISSED OUT----lurkers were those who hung around the reception desk while i was checking out to see if i made a scene....

you would have to have returned this past friday to see that...

the man who checked me out originally on sunday took so long that i just shoved the stuff in my pocket for later review...

well, what i ended up with was some other woman's bill..including her home address, phone numbers, marriott number and e-mail address....i shall be contacting her....

i figured out that since we were still in the area we could return on friday to straighten it out---and of course to rub in the "pain and suffering" that had been inflicted on poor little me.....STOP LAUGHING!!! ask laurieco, its true!!

so after the manager had straightened out my bill---a $200.+ mistake, i took the oportunity to ask him how he wished to compensate me for having driven back from palm springs to take care of this....??? he asked what i suggested.....i asked him what he was offering?? he said 5000 marriott miles...i said that would be very nice but how about adding in my parking fees as well ($45.)...he hesitated....i reminded him that i was a silver marriott member (mid-level)...he said sure and i thanked him....SORRY NO SCENE OR RAISED VOICES...

after this was concluded we decided to celebrate at 'pie and burger', a local hamburg and fresh pie joint that guen would not let fodorites eat at...

following that we spent the afternoon at the huntington gardens....what a fantastic place, especially the cactus display areas...

we arrived home about 10:30PM Saturday nite...

THIS GTG RANKS AS #1 !!!!

Bob, re: your spelling
If you read closely, I did say that you include vowels, not just the consonant sounds you hear in a word... so technically, your spelling is BETTER than my first-graders over 33 years... lol You are at LEAST on a second-grade level... ha ha

Reroblems at check-out... What is it about you that seems to attract problems with the bill??? Glad you got a couple of little "perks" for your handling of the situation.

Now that you are back home, you can start planning the BOS GTG for Oct so it can compare to guenmai's in Pasadena. Good luck... guenmai's GTG was certainly one for the books.
