Anyhow, someone just posted to me today that the owner of Thanying, at the Amara Hotel, in Singapore has left the restaurant and opened an incredible new place in Ngee Ann City (Singapore). It's called Sabai Restaurant and the poster just ate there a few weeks ago.Go on google and type in Sabai Restaurant Ngee Ann City Singapore and there's an article on the new restaurant. hi all; i am here in bkk slowly defrosting after spending nearly a week is dc where they had record or near record cold temperatures for me. my nose ran away from me as soon as we touched down in iad.

still recovering from the "flu" that i got from trying to keep up with our resident farang here last night.

will post a short report when i get back. leaving on sat. right now in mbk going to have a shrimp and curry paste lunch at the food court. no, did not have time to go to thanying this time. maybe next time.

Are you back from Thailand Oishi-san? How's #27 doing? I still have to post my photos of Suzhizanmai on my webpage. I've been visiting two Japanese restaraunts in McLean recently: Sushi <something> and Tachibana which are about a half mile from each other.

mrwunrfl; back a couple of weeks now and trying to get organized. i have a few pics too, from edogin zanmai, ukai, but don't have the expertise to post these photos like you and the rest of the vets do. i will have to learn that.

unfortunately, all my pay perview photos of orgy was corrupt, and i could not even view them. perhaps they were tooo steamy. i was going to sell them to hustler. . i saw 27, and you have very good taste she was lovely. i will post my encounter with her later. when you get a chance, let me have the names of those jp restaurants. i'm usually in crystal city near eads st. so hopefully if its not too far. i can go there, although i truly love the martinis and kumamoto oysters at legals.

I know what you mean about taking a couple of weeks to get organized. Sounds like you had a good trip. Too bad about the photos, LOL! The sushi places are not close to CC but are easy to get to. I can show you. When I get my photos and thoughts organized I will post more about my trip, but for now I will just say that Thailand gets two while Japan gets all three . Have set a deadline for posting: May 18, the day before my next trip when I fly to Nagoya. Am thinking about going back to Thailand at the end of the year again as the weather was hot but actually pleasant. Definitely would stay at the HI again if they move it a couple of blocks closer to the BTS between now and then.

If you fellas are looking for good Japanese closer to Crystal City, try Yamazato, just off of Duke St (I think it is Little River Turnpike there) at 395, tucked away in a little shopping center. Short cab ride from Crystal City. Good food and really full menu (shabu shabu, teriyaki, sukiyaki, noodle dishes, and wonderful special dishes, esp. the fish) Especially good variety and freshness with the sushi. They have a website. Nice atmosphere. Good reviews. I took my son there for his birthday. yum yum yum.

Am in Vegas and had a craving for sushi and/or udon so I got directions to Hamada of Japan restaraunt on Flamingo Road. I was surprised to see that it was closed and that there weren't people going out for sushi for Sunday brunch. Guess I'm hooked.

Your post got me thinking- why hasn't someone opened a theme hotel in Vegas based on Japan? I can think of all kinds of possibilities; think Bellagio but Japanese. And there would be your good Japanese food and sushi. Not my cup of tea, but I think it has potential.

Mr W--You DO know, don't you, that Hamada's has about 6 locations in Vegas? There's one in the Luxor that I always go to, (since I love Egypt, I tend to stay in one of the pyramid rooms). Also a Hamada's at Flamingo Hilton, and also Stratosphere, I believe. But you should really try the Japanese restaurant at the Mirage, EXCELLENT sushi, (but quite expensive).

However, don't think they'll let you take your sushi into the Sports Book.... (smile)

mrwunrfl; i've been to hamadas, and can''t say i liked it. i went to the one outside the strip, i think it was close to terribles casino.

believe it or not, i agree with spygirl about the sushi in the mirage. i forgot the name, but its the best in lv, but, takai desu.

there is also a good sushi bar in the industrial area just off the strip. i think it is called tokyo sushi. its a very good alternative to the one in the mirage.

if you have time, and are lucky at the tables, treat yourself to the veal chop at the range steakhouse in harrahs.

isn't the imperal hotel on the strip a japanees theemed place. or at least a crapy try at it. if it's crapy I obviously stayed or lets say was stranded ther durring 9/11

Ha Ha Ha! well, come to think of it, there IS a Japanese themed hotel on the strip, and it is indeed the Imperial Palace Hotel, and has got a chintzy Japanese pagoda out front! It's set back a bit from the strip....
