Paging Kathie from Guenmai

You know, yesterday I posted a message to you under a thread and don't remember what thread it was and I'm out of computer time.. What address do you want me to send you your copy of Bangkok 101 magazine to? If you don't want to post your personal e-mail addres on the internet, then maybe you could send it to Bob and then Bob could e-mail my e-mail address to you...if it's OK with Bob. He has my e-mail address. Happy Travels!

bob...i also posted a message to you and forgot which thread it was on so....
to repeat myself...

porn at the nana hotel jewelry store was wonderful...we ordered 2 custom pieces of jewelry with burma jade...and my daughter and her fiance got their wedding rings made there.

porn said you were her oldest farang client...wherein i asked if she meant oldest or longest...
she replied both...laughter broke out through out the small store...everyone knew you...

did you already read this somewhere else
on another thread?

dive---i did read it earlier....sorry if i did not reply....don't think i read about the "old customer" however....they love us...last time we took a special thank you cake into them and you would have thought that we bought each of them a piece of jewelry....we spend hours there doing our stuff and just talking...

we are certainly not her longest customer...she has a saudi arabian woman who she makes tons of gaudy stuff for and the woman sells it in SA...she way outdates us....the shop was previously in the rajah hotel, only slightly grottier than the nana...
isn't the nana the pits?? did you laugh at the old men with the young thai women?? we actually saw one old man with oxygen on one arm and a young thai girl on the other....hahaha..c'est la vie....

As for crime...I JUST finished reading the Bangkok Post today and in the Post Bag section there was a reader who was talking about crime...I can't remember all of the places the person was commenting about...there was some talk of Bangkok, but I remember reading a week or two ago about Ko Sumai(sp?) and someone who was robbed and beat up badly. I read about that person somewhere else, too. That was the man, I think, who was jumped on the way back to his guesthouse and beaten up and robbed of everything and then ended up in the hospital. It was the health advocate, if I remember correctly, that wrote the article on this man's experience since she was with him at the hospital. I think he was the one who personally wrote about his bad mishap recently and is pretty furious to say the least and wants to get the word out about Ko Sumai(sp?). And he stated that his overall experiences in Thailand have been very good...but he has issues with Ko Sumai. I'd have to go back up to my apartment and reread the article. Maybe I can post in the morning as I have an evening flight home tomorrow. Of course bad things can happen anywhere, but people need to just get out of this false security mentality and face up to the fact that nowhere is perfectly safe and just be cautious and don't do ridiculous things...like these young, western girls who walk on the beach, alone, at night. Like...hello...my parents taught me lifeskills 101 at a VERY young age. I've been traveling solo around the world since I was 17 and thank goodness nothing major has happened...common sense....luck...guardian angel. SOME things, of course, are just NOT preventable, but other things are. Folks at home, even have this false security mentality in that if they live in a "nice" neighborhood, then they don't have to worry about safety issues and they even, at times, don't lock their doors and walk down dark streets at night...alone. Well, I too live in what appears to be a "safe" and "nice" neighborhood, but there was a home invasion robbery at my neighbor's house....around 2AM. I've ALWAYS been cautious. And people need to be cautious on vacation, too. As my parents always told my siblings and I growing up,"bad things can happen to good people." Happy Travels!

Kathie...I haven't checked my e-mail,yet. Your e-mail is probably there. I first came on the forum. I'll check my mail after I post about the Kukrit house under my Siam Ocean World thread where I'm posting my trip report. Oh, thanks, Bob, for giving Kathie my e-mail address....and the magazines are on the house...consider it a belated Christmas gift! Happy Travels!
