Our First trip to India

I along with my wife are all set to take our first ever trip to India this November. While we are taking a liberty to splurge on the expensive Oberoi hotels however we want to spend a night extra somewhere to ease our pace of travel (spending 3 nights everywhere already). Anyone have an idea where to spend that extra night; in Jaipur or Udaipur? and may be why? Thanks already.

Where is "everywhere" else you plan to visit? And how are you traveling - air, driver, train? It would help pinpoint another logical stop. There are fascinating possibilities most everywhere.

Udaipur is our fav indian city... attractive, built around a lake, not wildly overrun by chaos.

Between Jaipur and Udaipur, I'd agree with rhkkmk and suggest the latter. It's a beautiful city with most of the advantages of Jaipur (like food) and less chaotic.

Go to Ranthambore and visit the Tiger Park. Stay at the Ranthambore Regency.

We loved the Oberoi hotels in Agra and Jaipur. My only regret is that we were so busy touring that we really didn't get to enjoy the hotels themselves. If I were to do it again, I'd do an extra day in each city, tour half a day, and enjoy the luxury of the hotels for the rest of the day. They are fabulous!

Where did you end up staying? We chose The Leela Palace Udaipur and loved it!
