Thanks again everyone for the advice & thoughts. First, I didn't realize that I had inadvertently made up my own airline code for Singapore airlines, so thanks for the heads up! And I know we will be back to SE Asia again in a few years (& will bring our kids with us for that visit). While the PP option probably makes the most sense, sometimes you go with the heart, and my heart is saying BKK. I do like the idea of staying in one country and the shorter flying time, but BKK just seems more in keeping with the spirit of this trip.
