In HongKong, where next for few days in Dec?

We will be visiting our daughter who is now living in HK over the xmas holiday week and would like to take her somewhere for 4 days Dec 30-Jan3. We are thinking Angkor Wat, Northern Vietnam or Lijiang or Beijing. Please help! Factors that enter in are ease of getting there, since my husband is very jet lag prone, and we are not arriving from the states til Dec 26, the limitations of our short time available, and to a lesser extent
the weather...( particularly if the highlight of the region is outdoor and active options - such as hiking and biking..). We are interested in all activities from touring historical sites, museums, and hiking and visiting local villages so are open travelers! Thank you in advance. Ps - do you have rec for reputable tour companies that you love for these places?

www.theangkorguide.net

largest temple complex in asia.

A do not miss for me.

Fly to Bangkok

make arrangements boots on the ground with providers

or quality or more fun cheaper just self guide.

viator.com/Bangkok

sawasdee.com

always pay with CC never wire money many online scammers

amari.com/watergate from $50 bidding priceline.com for me

last betterbidding.com insuremytrip.com wise

some flooding now another good option more laid back

Bali www.komaneka.com Hindu truly beautiful also more natural

Less dodgy than Bangkok.

Enjoy!

Angkor is certainly a good choice. Note that you will be traveling at the absolute busiest time of the year in SE Asia, so you will want to make reservations as soon as possible. I fear that if you wait to make hotel and plane reservation until you get to Bangkok as qw recommends, you'll be disappointed.

Since you'll just have 4 days, I'd suggest you get to Siem Reap mas quickly as possible, rather than spending some time in Bangkok first (though Bangkok is my favorite city in the world!). Check and see if Cathay Pacific or Dragon Air fly to either Siem Reap or Phonem Penh. Otherwise, connecting though Bangkok ro HCMC are your best choices.

For hotels in Siem Reap, www.agoda.com or www.asairooms.com are both good booking sites.

I don't think it makes much sense to fly all the way to Bali for 4 nights.

A nonstop from Hong Kong to Bali would be less than 5 hours.

Are there any nonstops to Siem Reap? I don't think so. A connection on Bangkok Airways would take over 6 hours.

Angkor is a good choice. So is Bali.
