Ocean view villa in Phuket
We are planning a trip to Vietnam, Thailand, and Angkor Wat and these forums have been great for planning. We generally arent picky about hotels since we prefer spending time seeing the sites, cities, etc and spend little time in the hotel and just like it to be clean and centrally located and reasonably priced. But we are going to Phuket for a couple of days on this trip and this is the one place we want to splurge. We would really like if possible a villa with at least a partial ocean view in Phuket. I've seen plenty of places that have villas, but havent seen many with ocean views, which would be great. Does anyone have any suggestions?
One friend stayed in a partial ocean pool pavilion at the amanpuri and loved it (http://www.amanresorts.com/amanpuri/...odation.aspx); and another stayed at the ocean view pool room at the trisara and also loved it (http://www.trisara.com/ocean_view_pool_room.html). Unfortunately both are sold out while we are planning on being there, so any other suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Thanks for your help

If you want to splurge, try for Mom Tri's Villa Royale, the suite called Dao-o-Dung (which is probably already booked out) or the suite called Fueng Fa. I have not stayed in Dao but have stayed in Fueng Fa and could recommend it without any hesitation. It's a fabulous place! There is also an on-site restaurant that is one of the best on Phuket! It's called Mom Tri's Kitchen. Hopefully it's still just as great as it was a few years ago when I last visited Phuket.
Otherwise, look at Kata Thani Resort. Much larger. Not the splurge that Villa Royale would be...

Here's a good resource for looking at the some of the best places in the Phuket area:

Personally, I'd vote as Carol does for Dao-o-Dung at Mom Tri's Villa Royale, or, if it isn't available, another one of their fabulous suites.
