rkkwan- good points- I don't disagree with most of your points. I happen to have it both ways in my case. When I fly to Asia I go Continental to West Coast then EVA Air Evergreen Delux over the ocean. You get almost Business Class and the great service of the Asian airlines (yes I like the young attentive service oriented attendants compared to the "mature" and often lazy ones we see on US airlines- you know the ones that congregate at the back of the plane all the time). I get a good price and business class room/service and I get all of my FF miles as EVA Air is a partner with Continental. Life is good!

what is up with the "OLD" attendents that work the asia routs, I flew Delta NRT-ATL and the average age of the attendents on coach was about 55 years old.. and it was bad.. we had too stow our own luggage, and help them out on sertain things. I would of thought they put the retiring staff on the wichita-rockford rout..

orgy7 - One word, "seniority". The long hauls are good routes to work for many FAs, and the ones with seniority get first dib.
Well, actually, the deeper reason is the legal and social system of the US. I think I don't need to go too deep into explaining that.

While the men complain about older flight attendants, give me an older attendant any day when there is an emergency on board. The very young attendants on the Asian airlines are often befuddled by anything out of the ordinary. I've been on flights on Asian lines when passengers were getting out of their seats at take off and the flight attendants didn't know what to do. The passengers were falling into other people and we were lucky no one was seroiusly hurt. I've also been on flights where there have been medical emergencies, and the older flight attendants were very efficient and professional. Perhaps they aren't as "ornamental" but I want people who know how to watch out for passenger safety.

well let the busines class/first class passangers have the "MATURE" staff. us couch bums already have it rough as it is, might as well have someone younger who can lift 20 pounds and looks attractive as well.

Sorry Kathie - I'm not seeing it your way- think about why we go to Asia in the first place- we get the royal treatment there at a low cost- a lot of us just don't want to pay for the "Senior" crowd with an attitude on our long flight over the ocean. I really like being ttreated special- even in coach!
On Singapore Air the attendant gave me a post card to fill out and then agreed to mail it. When I ask for help storing my bags- I don't get an attitude I get help, the attendants are always walking the aisles, assisting- not gabbing in the back of the plane.
