Nop recommended by Ratt

During my past visits to BKK, I have been using Ratt to pick up from the airport and to drive us around town on visits, always to satisfaction. For my next visit to BKK, she is however not available and she offers to arrange someone else, called Nop. Anybody has had experience with him?

Yes, I have had Mr. Nop pick us up at the airport twice. I call him the Elvis of Bangkok. He has a great sense of humor and also has a Elvis hairdo(sort of).

His English is fine and he is a fan of all American movies playing in BKK(that's how he practices his English).

He has a van which is why Ratt has him picking you up at the airport.

Aloha!

Mr. Nop took us to Prasart Museum just outside of BKK & Hawaiiantraveler certainly has his hairdo & style pegged. He is just fine as a driver --very reliable, a good driver and knows his way around. He was on time & patiently waited for us while we spent several hours at Prasart, which we absolutely loved, by the way. Don't miss it.

Ratt charges 1000 Baht for the airport pick-up, which is actually even a bit more expensive than what some hotels charge. A bit steep to my feeling. For a 10 hour day of touring, the charge for Nop is 2200 Baht, which I think is quite reasonable.

Just to be clear, Nop is a driver only. Although his English is good, he is not a guide in the way that Tong and others are. Do not expect him to provide information about places or sites. But if you know where you want to go and what you want to do and just need a driver he will be very reliable.

Thanks Bob. I tried both addresses and neither worked. Yahoo said the account was discontinued or closed. Hot mail did not give a reason. If anyone has another address for Ratt please let me know. Meanwhile, I am emailing other drivers and hope that those go through.

A month ago I e-mailed Ratt successfully at [email protected] - I believe that is one of the addresses you had already tried.

Sorry, Craig. That address is slightly different from what was rejected. I am going to try your new one now.

Thanks Bob and Craig. I tried the yahoo address again and this time it did not bounce back, so I am assuming it went through.

Craig was correct. I have corresponded with her up until about 10 days ago. She is quite busy so I normally get answers from her in 3 days or so. We wanted a custom designed tea pot when we were there in April and it takes 1 painter 3 months to complete one. She ran herself ragged to keep me posted and even sent me pictures before it was to come to me. Because DHL to my home was so expensive she had her sister visiting from Boston for 4 weeks in Aug./Sept. and her sister carried it boxed on the plane and UPS'd it to me in NJ. She would not accept any money for periodically checking on its progress or the time. My only cost beyond the $240 I paid before we left Thailand was the $18 to her sister for the UPS cost. That's the kind of person she is as is her sister Poon in Chiangi Mai.
But they do not licence in CM so Poon is a guide/driver with a lot of knowledge but her English takes a little gettimg used to. We had her for 3 days and in 3-4 hours or so it was not a communications problem.
