Non-smoking rooms

I noticed that the hotels where I will be staying on my Nov. trip are "smoking" rooms. I forgot to ask about this when I requested the bookings through the agent and I've noticed now that many of the hotels don't have that option. Can anyone tell me about their experiences, i.e., were the rooms well-ventilated, etc.? I will be at the Imperial, Qutub (Delhi), Carlson (Jaipur), Holiday Inn (Agra), Pugmark (Ranthambore), Udai Vilas Palace (Bharatpur)and Jungle Mantra (Bandhavgarh).
Thanks.

Non smoking rooms in SE Asia can be a problem. We were in Bali at the brand new Conrad Hotel where our nonsmoking room smelled like the local smoking club. Their answer to make it non smoking was to remove the ash trays and spray some air deodarizer around(which for me makes it worse!) The hotel did finally find us a non smoking room AND gave us an upgrade to compensate for the problem.

We then had the same problem in Bangkok in a 3 star hotel. We had to pay $25 more a night and moved to a huge river view room that was non smoking.

don't know about your hotels, but you need to be vigilant.

It depends uopn whether there are air conditioners that take in air from outside, or recycle air in the room. You should be able to ask for a non-smoker on arrival, and hope that there could be one left.

I just heard back from the agent in New Delhi who said she would request non-smoking where possible.
