thursdaysd - I kick myself for mixing up the old and new names......I'm going to make a table for myself! (it seems that some cities have made the complete transition - e.g. Chennai, but I see Cochin/Kochi used interchangeably and not just by non Indian nationals).

Good advice about homestays and ac, Thurs. What time of yr did you visit--i cant recall.
January should not be too humid in most of these Keralalplaces, though. A ceilinbg fan was helpful and is omnipresent in most places.
OK, s Eliz--stay two nights in Kochi/Cochin if you want--but not at the expense of some of the other places that deserve more than a day.
