Need Ideas

I'm looking for ideas for a trip this summer (Aug/Sep) for about a month.

Went to Thailand last year and loved it but want to go somewhere different this year. Needs to be relatively cheap to get to(From UK), and cheap when you get there. Don't want to just lie on a beach for a month - beaches are good, but would like some adventure too!
Any ideas? Cheers, Jo

Check out Sabah. My husband went to high school there and we went back for his 30th reunion last Thanksgiving. I loved it! We stayed at the Tanjong Aru Beach Resort in Kota Kinabalu. The prices are excellent right now because of the Asian economic slump -- they really need the tourism.

After some time in K.K., you could check out the little resorts in the interior. "Eco-tourism" is very big there. You can climb Mt. Kinabalu or visit an orangutan sanctuary.

I went to Korea (South, obviously) on vacation for a week when I was in the military about ten years ago and absolutely loved it. I stayed mostly in Seoul but made a day trip out to this zoo (can't remember the name) in the mountains that had a neat museum and everything. Found the Korean people to be very nice and Seoul was quite the bustling city. Beautiful country, great food. Tongdemun (EAst Gate Market) was amazing!!! Barrels of live fish, stereos, fabric. EAch thing had it's own BIG area. Good luck!

Hi Jo,

A great source of ideas and inspiration for trip ideas (eco-travel, adventure and activity holidays etc) is the Adventure Finder which is at:

I also don't like to lie on a beach all day. Borneo is one place that I would like to visit and Thailand too.

I would like to let you know that in summer in the uk, but in SE asia is the middle of Monsoon season, you will get heavy rains there. Borneo is nice, and worth something adventurous. I don't know whether the promotion for airfares for within asean is ended or not, if not you can travel around many countries in the region, worth checking this.
