nature from Delhi 3-4 days next month
Hello ,
We will be in New Delhi next month for a short visit and will have 3-4 days for sight seeing/ tourist stuff. We will like to do some nature travel and were wondering if other members have travelled to corbett national park or the surrounding areas. Is that area accessible by train, I heard that car travel is not very convenient because of the poor roads. We have been to India and have done the golden triangle route couple of times. Or if there are any other thoughts or comments re 3-4 days tour from Delhi.
Thanks for your help.
Karl

Nothing can be more satisfying for nature lovers than a visit to the Corbett. Later half of February till the end of April, is ideal time to be there. By road Corbett is about 300km. It is very good till Moradabad, thereafter till Ramnagar, it was bad in patches. The train Ranikhet Exp. leaves old Delhi Station at 11:00pm arriving at Lalkuan at around 4:30am.
You will need prior permits to enter the Park premises, at dhangarhi Gate. As Dhikala is located in the core area of the park, that should be your destination.

I loved visiting the Keoladeo Bird Park in Bharatpur. It is not far from Fatephur Sikri. We stayed at the Birders Inn which was lovely(Not super deluxe 100 star, but very nice)You can have a bicycle rickshaw driver guide you through the park and spot birds for you or you can rent bikes ,walk, whatever.I found this to be the most beautiful, peaceful spot on my trip.

Hi karlkk-we're planning a 3 day trip from Delhi early April 2006, departs Fridays booked via Uttar Pradesh Tourist Office, Chandralok Building, 36 Janpath, New Delhi Phone 3322251 or an alternative our friends have used is Tigerland Safaris (www.tigerlandsafaris.com)they found them to be excellent. A bit pricier than the Uttar Pradesh Tourist Office. Good luck!
