Know you are absolutely rushed but how would Rocky be for a couple and a 10 month old ? Someone was just asking so you on the spot experience might help them !

I am a true Mrs now! The wedding was perfect in so many ways. The sun was shining and glistening on the water, the power came on at 1pm so I was nice and cool getting ready, hair and make up were perfect (was a bit worried about that one), everyone looked fab, ambience was wonderful and the staff at Rocky made sure everything was perfect for us. Truly wonderful service - I am a bit smitten with this place, bit of an unsung gem. The food is lovely as well - it has a mixture of thai and western dishes, and some fusion food as well. Incredibly tasty and really well presented too. Cocktails go down a treat too, rather too easily...I am nursing a tired head this morning and was woken up at 7am by a rather excited Bella who wanted to get married all over again.
Will post more details once I can open my eyes a little more...

Well you probably couldn't get greater confimation that the day was a total success than Bella wanting to do it all over agian the very next day!
Sounds like it was fantastic. Made me want to get married all over again and to the same guy even!

hello - we are still at Rocky having a fab time! We don't want to leave on Monday but our room is booked but we are going to come back for a couple of nights at the end of our time on Samui and stay then. We don't leave here until 24th and then we are in Bangkok until the 27th so hopefully will be able to fly back to England then although staying a few more days wouldn't matter. The news about the planes and arrests yesterday made me feel really sick and low. We had a dinner at the Cliff but I was in a bit of a spin throughout panicking about taking Isabella on a plane in a couple of weeks. Am sure it should be all under control by then though,

It never rains but it pours:
I was already feeling glum about leaving Rocky Resort and saying goodbye to our family and friends (especially John's best friend and his family who live in the Caymen Islands as we didn't know when we would see them again). AND THEN it poured with rain torrentially throughout our journey on the Lomprayah catamaran over to Ko Tao. Thank god we took this boat as it is the most stable way to travel in stormy weather. The rain paused momentarily when we arrived at Ko Tao and then as we got to our resort is rained and hasn't stopped. Ko Tao has beautiful waters for snorkelling and diving but when the water is choppy and the weather somewhat lacking in sunshine it is not a great place to be with a toddler. John and I were trying to work out what we did before when this happened - we used to go to one of the relaxed beach bars, lie back on some cushions and watch films, read, drink beers and eat pancakes. John is trying to do that now with a toddler, and I am hiding up in the internet room!! Our room is clean and okay but Ko Tao Resort is a little tired and lacks the charm we found at Baan Panburi in Ko
Pha Ngan. So we are having a bit of a glum honeymoon. Isabella is a bit bored and all the children here don't want to play with her as they are older
. So we are cutting our losses - it may be raining in Samui but at least there is more to do there if it is raining.
So we catch the boat back tomorrow morning and we are going to Bophut for a couple of nights. John's parents are staying at the Anantara - but our budget wont stretch to that if we want to stay in the Oriental at the end of the holiday - so we are staying at Peace Resort for 2,700B per night in a standard garden room. It has a children's playground and toddler pool so that will keep B happy we hope! We are then off to Muang Samui in Chaweng for a few nights.
John - who has become an extremely bossy husband! - has persuaded me to return to Bangkok early. So we will have 6 nights there at the end. We will have 3 nights at the Oriental or Peninsula - still undecided but have sent the advance party (parents and brothers) to the Peninsula to stay there tonight to check it out and compare and advise!! We have 3 nights still to book somewhere. We think we will go for somewhere nearer the shopping areas although John is mooting for a return to the Shangri La which is an old favourite of his. Any suggestions welcome!

in town, the conrad or the intercontinental...cheaper and in the middle of things on soi 2 sukhumvit is the majestic grande---gets great reviews and only 2 years old if that...
GO JOHN!!!! i had full confidence in him...
if possible get the nearest bungalow to the ocean at peace...
we loved the peace and their restaurant serves good dinners at very reasonable prices....the princess will be very welcome there...its comfy...

So continuing in our vein of hopping around places which we like but which others find quite strange (including the in laws - i think they think we are quite mad!)...
We had a couple of days at Ko Tao Resort - which was a complete wash out. The weather was rubbish and in Ko Tao, if you can't dive or snorkel there is nowt to do. So we cut our losses and bought a boat ticket back to Samui and what do you know, the sun comes out as the boat pulls out of the harbour!!
We travelled to Bophut in Samui and stayed in a Bob and JamesA recommendation - Peace Resort - for two nights. Lovely, bright, clean bungalows, all reasonably priced. They get bigger and more expensive as you get to the front. We could only get a standard garden view cottage for the two nights we wanted (unless we wanted to change rooms after 1 night, to crazy for even us) as the resort was fully booked. However, we liked our little bungalow and really appreciated the garden shade for the last couple of days as they have been scorchers!
We met up with the in laws who were staying at the Anantara (beautiful, grand, zen communal areas but the rooms are a bit tired) and also visited my sister-in-law at the Amari in Chaweng. We really enjoyed Bophut and with Bella asleep in the buggy, stayed out way past our bedtime (until 11.30pm...) at the Beatles Bar where we lay back on cushioned beds and drunk beers and listened to sixties music.
Today, we moved to Muang Samui on Chaweng. A friend recommended this place and it is lovely - a small oasis in crazy Chaweng. The room is the most junior but is enormous with a v large bathroom and jacuzzi. I went straight to the spa when I got there and when I got back to the room, the rose petal hearts the hotel had put on the bed had been spread all over the floor by my lovely toddler and the rose petal bath was full of toys. Aargh, what a romantic honeymoon! The photographer had dropped off a very cool photo album of our wedding photos, all shot in montage style, and the hotel had hung the large framed photo in the room for us as a surprise. They gestured to it to show me and I nodded thinking, yes a couple on their wedding day and then realised it was us! duh, after effects of Indonesian massage and body scrub, lovely btw.
We are still undecided as to entire BKK stay but John won through for first three days at shangri La with promises of spa treatments at Chi!

The hotel is new to the Anantara group but was previously another hotel I read. From the look of the place, the communal areas have been done up beautifully - perhaps completey rebuilt - but the rooms are perhaps only touched up from their previous incarnation. They are on the small side and little things are not maintained.
