Mandatory vaccinations for Indonesia

Hi All
We are heading off to Indonesia for October 2024. Are there any mandatory vaccinations needed to get into Indonesia?
As usual, web searches have conflicting answers. Some say none are required and others say you
need proof of yellow fever vaccine. Has anyone had any issues with this?
Any help is much appreciated

Thanks in advance

Pre-Covid I visited Indonesia, I think, 4 times & don’t recall any vaccinations required to enter the country. There are some that are a good idea, like hepatitis A, and you might check for anything pertaining to Covid. Obviously don’t tale my word for it & continue your research but I’d be surprised if yellow fever was an issue.

Sometimes there’s conflicting information regarding what is “required” to enter a country & what might be prudent for avoiding various things. Or entering another country coming from one where yellow fever is endemic so vaccination is required to enter country #2. It also depends, in the “prudent” category, where you’ll be (city, resort or countryside) and for how long in a given area. Cities & resorts might be considered free of mosquitos but the countryside is not.

I would not recommend going to a travel clinic unless what you want is only available there. They are notorious for up selling their shots, in a better-safe-than-sorry manner that’s hard to argue with. Know what you want & shop around for the best prices.

The first place I always go with questions about vaccinations prior to travel is the CDC website. It indicates that yellow fever vaccination is required for those entering Indonesia from a country with a high yellow fever risk. Basically, it's to protect Indonesians from YOU, not to protect YOU from yellow fever. Or at least, that's my understanding! As MmePerdu indicates, however, there are a number of innoculations or other preventive strategies you might want to take in advance of your trip. I urge you to review this information:

There are no mandatory vaccinations for Indonesia. There are plenty that a prudent traveller should consider getting before travel. At the every least , check that all your usual standard vaccinations - Diphtheria; Poliomyelitis; Tetanus.; etc. are up to date as well as Covid and seasonal flu.

Re Yellow fever. I have had a YF card for the last 40 odd years and travelled to maybe 70+ countries. I have only ever been asked to produce it once!

Hi All
Thank you for the information. This helps clarify things. I did get my yellow fever, Hep A and typhoid vax about 4 years ago for Costa Rica.
I wasn't sure if I had to produce documentation at immigration. Now I just have to find my yellow card.

Again, thank you for the info!
Safe travels
