Malaysia Tour Itinary
Hi,
I am planning my honeymoon in mid June and am strongly considering the Malaysian tour below. I am pretty well travelled around Asia so am not a "newbie" to it all, have been to Malaysia but never KL or Borneo. Ideally I would like a holiday where we can lounge around a resort for a while but also do some sight seeing and very very mild adventuring.
Any comments and suggestions on it and the hotels would be very welcome.
Thanks!
3 nights KL - Mandarin Oriental / Shangri La
8 nights Kota Kinabatu - Shangri La Tanjung Aru
3 day trip to Sendakan Park
4 nights Kota Kinabatu - Tanjung Aru

Wow, that's 12 days in KK alone? That's pretty much in my opinion, unless you're off to scale the mountain there and intend to stay overnight somewhere on the mountain.
Otherwise, KK itself is an extremely small town, with nothing much to do. But you're right, of course you can lounge around indefinitely.

Wow, totally agree that 12 nights on Kalimantan is too much, mabye 5-6 days total is good, or 1-2 more if you want to climb Kinabalu.
What other parts of Malaysia have you been to? The east coast is perfect in June, and if you haven't seen that, I would suggst renting a car and driving up the coast.
If you are a diver, then take some off the Kalimantan part of the trip and go to Sipadan, which you have to access via KK anyway. One of the best dive sites in the world, snorkeling is OK too.
Not a fan of KL, but I guess the hotel is fine.

you could increase yr time in KL, and make a trip down to melaka. there's an absolutely gorgeous private garden that's perfect for honeymooners to lounge around - go to www.desapaku.com. i found it so amazing, and the proprietor is fantastic!

Hi,
I actually disagree with the above posts. We are very active people, and we stayed for 12 nights last april ,at the tanjung aru resort. There is just so much to see and do in and around kk,that you could never be bored.
Borneo is our fav hol spot so far,
have fun,you will enjoy it there, and the tanjung aru is a fab hotel.
Also go to the sister hotel ,the rasa ria ,and see the orangutans, brilliant,

We have just come back from 2 weeks in Malaysia. We stayed at the Mandarin Oriental in KL and I just can't say enough good things about it. Wonderful service, fantastic food, great rooms and the location is perfect as it's right next to the Petronas Towers and the very nice plaza and park. It's a great hotel so stay there if you can.
