Lot's is written about top luxury hotels in Thailand on this board and espeially those in Bangkok. However it is not that much to find about luxury hotels in Kuala Lumpur. Planning a trip there next year and would like to hear from you which are the best luxury hotels in KL when it comes to location, service, restaurants, rooms, facilities etc.

I stayed at the Ritz Carlton and loved it.It's in a quiet area, but only a 20-minute walk to the main street- Bukit Bintang. The price was excellent...$108.This was in spring 2002. Someone posted recently that she was off to KL soon and got a rate at the Ritz Carlton for $126. Happy Travels!

Hi arnesen,
We prefer the Mandarin Oriental. IMO the location is the best and both the hotel overall and the standard rooms are gorgeous w/ lovely views over the park (I would suggest that you not choose a room other than a park view as your view can be of KLCC's wall - if a view is important to you). Service is both efficient and knowledgable. Also, I can not state with enough emphasis how much we appreciate the ability to walk a few steps to KLCC and the park something that may not be as important to you though. The bonus for us is that the hotel is one of our favorite luxury hotels regardless of location.
We have also stayed at the Ritz Carlton and it is beautiful! We stayed in a suite and it looked out over an abandoned construction sight but if you are unconcerned about the view this isn't as important. Service is also great and several posters have mentioned their terrific rates. We find the location not as convenient for our choice of activities as the MO but it really is a lovely hotel.
Carcosa Seri Negara is also sometimes mentioned as a luxury hotel reco and while I understand that they are renovating and putting forward a valiant effort IMO the location is quite inconvenient. A beautiful park setting but far from town and transportation. IMO do tea or a meal here for the colonial atmosphere but stay elsewhere.
It is a toss up IMO between the MO and RC. Determined more by location preferance than a difference in quality. Have a great trip and let us know where you stay!

I recently made hotel reservations for an upcoming trip to KL. If you search this board, you'll find my post and the advice I received from others. I eventually chose the Ritz Calrton, but there are lots of fabulous hotels at great prices. Go to www.asiahotels.com and look at hotels in KL for more info and reviews of the various hotels. asiahotels.com has excellent prices on these luxury properties.

Hi arnesen,
I'm from Malaysia. Hilton is brand new located in KL Sentral, the transport hub of the city...28mins direct from the KL Int'l Airport via the airport express train. Very convenient. I haven't stayed there but was at the launching event couple of months back. I must say the facilities are state of the art...each room has a 42" plasma TV. The design is modern contemporary.
The hotel has 10 F&B outlets, 7 of the restaurants and bars are located in a dome-like structure, collectively known as Studio, at the side of the hotel covering three floors.
Apparently it's already fully booked from now until after X'mas. Let me know if you need the local contact #.
I can't find the local website, try this: http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/hotels/i...tyhocn=KULHIHI
