It's good to book flights early before anymore possible fuel hikes. I'm glad I booked my BK ticket for Dec 2008/Jan 2009 in Feb 2008. I also had a few tickets booked within the U.S. before the big hikes. Happy Travels!

The Hawaii-L.A./L.A.-Hawaii fares are usually crazy. They aren't the norm in booking fares. Happy Travels!

guen you are right. ua fares out of hawaii to popular destinations are always out of whack. once in a while, you might catch a good fare.

every tue. ua has efare sale, cheap flts to may destinations. the only time i ever saw hnl in that list was during the sars period.

accumulated ua ff miles are worth alot more now for us islanders.

" at yahoo dot com is my e-mail address.

Seal Beach would be a good place to have it, but I am biased. Or Surf City (Huntington Beach). Both are near Long Beach (LGB) airport (jetBlue, Delta, USAir) and Orange County airport (SNA). Only a half hour from LAX.

Manhattan Beach might be better. Some place down by the pier. It is minutes from LAX and there are lots of hotels and motels in the area.

Hey guys. So it's definitely going to be in LA. Logisitically, planning something somewhere else (Valley, South Bay, OC, etc.) is going to be harder for me.

Plus, there's a lot of great undiscovered gems in the urban sprawl.

No specifics yet--hold tight and I'll have more info hopefully in a few weeks.

I agree. Plan it where it's convenient for you. I would not want to plan a GTG way down in OC and I don't live down there or have any contacts down there. Happy Travels!

Good news, bad news. I just booked my flight to attend the LA GTG. Bob is still planning to come. I'll let you decide which is which.

Now, we need to have some idea of the general ,location of the main event, so we can book hotels. We have little knowledge of the geography.

Andy,

May I suggest the Beverly Wilshire and stay in a room in the old building. The hotel will allow speedos around the pool and hey you might get discovered by some producers(porn?)!

Pook-remember, Bob is going to be there too. The BW is not a place for him. We'll be lucky to get a place with A/C. This is a hardship voyage. He's threatening to go on priceline aqnd bid $25. Can't wait.

Speedos are the norm in LA. I won't even br noticed.

Looks like the BOS contingency is planning to attend the LA GTG. I'm hoping the Illinois group can also make it, but I must wait until after the first of the year to see if it is going to happen. There may be a very important conflict for us.

I like staying in the Santa Monica and Marina Del Rey area. Have stayed there many times. Would that be handy enough to the possible GTG site(s)? Also, I've stayed at the Hyatt on Sunset a couple of times.

I'm sure this will be a fun GTG for anyone who can make the trip.

Carol
