How are the amari and the Sheraton?
Good beach out front? Standard rooms worth the $?
Also are their any restaurants/bars nearby as we would like this option
Lastly, how is access to these resorts? Only beach access by boat?
Sorry for all the questions and thanks again!

I'll be spending a Phuket NYE week once again. This year we will have a car and will be exploring. Last year we stayed at the resort (Phuket Beach Club, connected to J W Marriott) Mai Khao beach, which is really fabulous. That's why we are returning! This year I hope to get back to visit Kata Beach and some of the other southern beaches that I loved in years past. Last visit to Kata area was 2006. Stayed at Katathani Resort and thoroughly enjoyed it. Its location is on the smaller Kata Noi beach, not the larger busier Kata beach. I've always enjoyed Phuket, but will reserve my opinion of the "rest of the island" (away from Phuket Beach Club/JW) once we've spent a couple of days touring the island! Maybe it has changed. I hope not!!! (but, for sure I have never enjoyed Patong Beach.. way too full of touts and drunken tourists IME).

Check out Aleenta phuket, it's more toward the phangnga side. Really gorgeous hotel! They can also arrange private romantic dinners on the beachfront, my husband and I go there for our anniversary. Not the cheapest option, but for the honeymoon experience there, so worth it! They've got this amazing infinity pool with gold touches that stretches out to the beach..heaven.
