laptop compatability
I am moving to thailand in a couple of months and Im wondering whether or not my laptop would be compatable with the internet connections they have there. I know i will need an adapter for power, but I have no clue about the internet. Any insight would be appreciated, even a link to where I may find more information. thanks.

If you have built in wireless, just go to a hotspot and go on line. No problem!
I have had to use either modem or ethernet connections in the past, and also had no problem getting on line. You should be just fine.
You probably will not need a current converter. Just check to see if your charger plug is 110/220. All of my electronic gadgets (phone, camera, iPAC, computer, etc) are, and I just have to make sure I have a 2-prong adaptor, if necessary, due to 3-prong charger plugs. Then I just plug it in. No problem!

From what I'm reading, Thailand uses the RJ-11 phone connector as in the US. Therefore, you won't have problem even if you have to use the phone line and a modem. This is not true in some countries of the world where they may use the British style phone connector.

If you're going to move to Thailand then I would think that you will need a local(Thai) interenet portal or ISP. Once you subscribe they will give you a c/d plus any highspeed modem(if required) and after that it's pretty simple and yes it will work with laptop from any country.
