Langkawi weather in August?

Can anyone tell me if August is a good time to visit Langkawi? How is usually the weather at that time of year? Many thanks in advance.

All I can say is that the weather in Langkawi will be very similar to Trang/Phuket areas of Thailand and that means 'heavy' monsoon rains. Langkawi is opposite Satun in Thailand where August would be 13-14 inches a month ( over 300cms )!!

thank you very much JamesA for your input. What nice beaches are there in the east coast of Malaysia, can you advise me?

Although I have traveled quite a bit in Malaysia I have not been to the East coast islands, I believe some are located in states where you cannot get a beer, and I like a beer or glass of wine to enjoy a sunset! If you are looking for a busy tropical island with low/little rainfall in July then maybe Koh Samui might be an option for you, if you are into diving then perhaps Koh Tao, again, I am not expert on the East Coast Malaysian islands but hopefully another poster can fill you in on those.

Koh Samui and Koh Tao are in Thailand, I don't think I clearly stated that, sorry.
