Kyoto & beyond

Monday, July 5, is a day off for both the Pacific League and the Central League.
July 6,7,8 at 6PM at Nagoya Dome, Chunichi Dragons vs Yakult Swallows. Reach the park by subway with one transfer OR via JR and a short walk.
July 6,7,8 at 6PM at Tokyo Dome, Yomiuri Giants vs Yokohama Bay Stars. Also access via JR or subway.
The other CL action is Carp series mentioned earlier. The PL has games in Fukuoka, Chiba, and Sapporo.
Looks like Nagoya is the best bet. Jingu was probably like a class AA park. Hiroshima is like that. Kurashiki is maybe class A. Nagoya Dome is probably more like AAA (like Tokyo Dome).
Nagoya - Shin Osaka takes about an hour
Hiroshima - Shin Osaka about 90 minutes
both of those by shinkansen
Kurashiki - Shin Osaka about 75 minutes, JR train to/from Okayama about 15 minutes and then 10 min transfer and 50 minutes by shinkansen to Shin Osaka.
Elainee, the Pacific League schedule runs through Sept. 22 and the Central league regular season ends Sept. 30. Playoffs are October 1 to 11. That's the big leagues.

Beautiful. Thanks again for the help. I am now very tempted to hit both Nagoya and either Kurashiki or Hiroshima on consequtive days. I do not know if this is possible. Last night (in Kyoto) I had dinner with a friend of my family who used to work in Nagoya. His sister lives in Hiroshima. He offered to have his sister & brother-in-law meet me. Today, I am meeting with some people from Kobe today in Kyoto. So, they can help me out with the feasibility of the travel arrangements in Osaka.
The only concern is making it to Osaka on July 7th and checking into the Ryokan after the game. I could get a late train from Hiroshima or Nagoya to Osaka. Maybe it would be better to stay at a hotel in Osaka that way I could get a late train into Osaka and get to the hotel late. I will have to think about this. It is not the easiest to navigate a new Japanese city on first entering.

Good morning, another sunny and warm day in Kyoto. As I have been searcing the internet and looking into the possibilities, I was thinking Kurashiki on July 6, then Nagoya on the 7th. But, as you noted it is only a 30 minute longer train to shin Osaka, and I think I would rather go to the Hiroshima game on the 7th. I will ask the people I am meeting today. Thanks again.

Hello again. I made 2 baseball games. I will report more later, but the Hanshin Tiger experience in Hirishiki was unbelievable. I had to go to the stadium at 2 pm to get in line for a limited number of general admission tickets. the place was already mobbed with tiger fans who lined up at their respective entrances waiting for the gates to open. it was incredibly hot in the sun. I was not going to stay but the sun shifted as I did a lap around the stadium to check out the masses. When I got back part of the line for tickets was in the shade. so i waited almost 2 hours for a ticket. people had cases of beer as they sat outside. everyone had tiger jerseys on. Once they got in, they cheered batting practice like it was the world series. they stadium was in a frenzy for the first pitch as noise makers and singing became feverish. I was shocked. the first pitch was hit for a double. they only let up when the carp came to bat. I will write more later, but the Hanshin Tiger experience before 30,000 fans in Hirishiki was unbelievable. Very different from the game in Nagoya Dome. there I was surprised to see women and girls dressed not in tiger jerseys, but kimonos. they did not allow beer and many things from outside into dome. I sat in the Dragons cheering section (thanks to my friend who used to work in Nagoya).
