Kyat change in Myanmar

Anybody has a suggestion regarding changing US$ in Rangoon(hotel?) and the current rate?

We were told that the moneychanger at this Yangon hotel offers excellent rates; make sure the bills are new and not marked or creased. The office is in the small shopping arcade off the lobby of the hotel.

We got the best rate--better than at the above hotel-- from our local travel agent. If you have a local agent, you should ask. Again, bring only new notes or notes in top condition.

One other bit of advice regarding changing money in Myanmar . . . larger denomination bills get better exchange rates. We absolutely loved our time in Myanmar, and visiting Bagan is an imperative. We hope you have a wonderful holiday to that fascinating country.

I was told you got the best rates at the market, but you need a local (e.g. your driver) to handle the transaction.
