Krabi vs Koh Samui
Hi! My girlfriend and I will be heading to Thailand towards the end of April for 10 days. We're trying to decide between visiting Koh Samui and Krabi (and surrounding islands.) We hear both are amazing but Krabi may be a little wet during that time period. We're 25, and looking for beautiful beaches, good nightlife(i.e. cool beach bars, not on the level of the full moon party), options for good day excursions to neighboring islands and potential for adventure. Price range = approx. $30 night accommodations?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi
My wife and I have been on vacation to Thailand a couple of times and we have been to both Samui and Krabi. Samui was really nice: nice beach, lots of resturants and places to go at night. Krabi (Ao Nang) was more on the quiet side and the beach itself is not that great. But great beaches are only a short boat ride away. I have posted trip reports and pictures from our trips to Thailand on my personal homepage www.gardkarlsen.com
Maybe you can get some useful info there
Have a great trip

The Krabi area isn't all that fantastic for nightlife, and there's a good chance you'll hit rain in April, so I suggest you skip it and go to Samui. You'll find whatever you want there from quiet beaches in Maenam to heavy nightlife in Chaweng. You can get a lot for $30/night, about 1200 baht, just check a few websites and you'll see.

As previous have said to be safer weatherwise head for Koh Samui, but you can always check the Bangkok Post for weather reports and if the weather around Krabi looks ok then it is just the ferry and a few hours to get to Ao nang area. Nightlife wise Ao nang has some nars but if you want 'nightlife' then Chaweng Beach on Samui would suit.
