Krabi or Phi Phi Accommodation
Hi I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good hotel with a swimming pool bar for a reasonable price. And also whether it is better to stay on Phi Phi or Ao Nang. We will be there for 4 days in May and will be trying to do a bit of sightseeing in between relaxing.
Thanks for your help

Krabi mainland and Phi Phi are entirely different, Phi Phi is island, krabi proper is mainland, Ao nang in krabi has a huge choice of accommodation, May is low season due weather so prices are cheap, expect to pay around the THB 1,200-1,500 for a nice reasonable place.
But you need to decide if you want Phi Phi or Krabi, with 4 days a but tight to do both although of course you can boat to Phi Phi for a trip, you need to decide what you are looking for. in addtion to Ao nang you can stay at quieter beach area in krabi like railay, tell us how you want to spend your time, do you want a bunaglow/cottage style place, spa resort, whatever, such a loot of choice.
In Ao nang BW Ao nang resort should be about THB 1,400, Ban Ao Nang Resort
about THB 1,200, if you want a psa type tropical place Tropical Herbal Spa & Resort around 1,800.
First place I ever stayed the original Krabi resort still there, large and good location Ao nang about 1,800 also.
Tell us more the sort of place you want.

Not Good Advice....if we are talking about a day trip!....... Worst possible way to see Phi Phi and guaranteed to disappoint.
With only four days you should choose one or the other.
Krabi and Phi Phi ARE different in many ways. I have some fair experience of Krabi, but extensive knowledge of Phi Phi. With an idea of budget and a little bit more idea of what you want to do, I'm sure this forum will help you decide. Some pictures of Phi Phi on following link

Leighttravel,
please let me know more about PhiPhi. I'll be going to Phuket, and was wondering if its worth the trip to go to Phi PHi. I just know its an island, and was filmed for THE beach. What activities could we do on phi phi that phuket would not afford?
BTW we are only gonna be in phuket for 3.5 days total.

Kevin, Phi Phi Islands are a group of Islands. Phi Phi Don being the place where you will stay if you want to visit here.
There are six islands altogether: Phi Phi Don, Phi Phi Ley, Bida Nok, Bida Nai, Yung, and Phai; each of which offers some of the most unique topography on this planet. Of these six islands, Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Ley are the largest, and most well known.
Phi Phi Ley Island is 6.6 square kilometers in total area: 3 km in length and 1 km at its broadest point. The island is entirely limestone and steep cliffs rising from the sea very nearly ring it. surrounding waters average about 20 meters in depth, reaching 34 meters at the deepest point off the island's southern tip. Phi Phi Ley has several beautiful bays: Piley, Maya, and Loh Samah. Maya Bay is one of Phi Phi's number one tourist attractions, being that it was the setting for the film "The Beach".
Phi Phi is my No1 beach destination in the world, but, please do not do it as a day trip....give it AT LEAST a couple of nights.
Here you will find wonderful sandy beaches, a real piece of paradise. Fabulous snorkeling right of the beach, but you must be careful of where you book , to get the very best out of Phi Phi.
