Koh Kut in May?

I have the opportunity to travel mid May and was contemplating Thailand, specifically Koh Kut. The reviews I have come across are mixed as far as rainy season, cloudy waters, storms...I was wondering if anyone has suggestions or comments on a visit to Koh Kut at this time. I was hoping to get in some beach time, snorkeling, and hiking. Is going in mind May a mistake or is it doable? Is there a not so crowded area/island that would be better?

Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance!

It is true, according to the weather sites that May is the beginning of the rainy seasoning Koh Kut. The rain isn't the biggest problem though if you are looking for good snorkeling and water activities. With the rain come storms that stir up the waters (thus, cloudy) and cause very rough waters. During the rainy season at the various beach areas, the beaches are often red-flagged.

I spent a little time looking at weather sites fro Thailand, and it strikes me that you would be better off going to Indonesia at this time of the year. Lots of options for you there.
