A group of 4 want to do a day tour on a Halong Bay Junk tour. Can anyone recommend a boat ?

We were happy with Swan Cruises that we just took this fall.

We took an overnight on a boat that was about 12 couples.

It is a boring four hour drive to get to Halong Bay. And another equally boring four hours back. Are you sure it is worth it for a "day" trip?

We went with Greyline and were very happy with the service (pick up from hotel in company minibus and overnight cruise in a premium cabin with all meals included).

I strongly recommend you stay onboard overnight rather than go for a day trip due to the length of the drive (I'm assuming you'll be coming from Hanoi?). Most of the organised tours have a break half way through the drive for refreshments/shopping so it does actually split the journey up fairly well.

I agree with thursdaysd. The ride is very boring. In fact, we wished we had stayed two nights on the junk in Halong Bay, a beautiful experience.
