Halong Bay cruises
Hello fellow travelers.
My wife and I wish to do a 2 day/1 night Halong Bay trip. Is $200 total a fair, realistic target cost for a cruise there? We are thinking comparable to a 3-star hotel.
Thanks as always...

If you google Halong Bay cruises, you will see lots of web sites where you can book the cruise, with the prices listed. We have a tour to Vietnam and Cambodia booked for next year and we spend a night on the Halong Victory Junk.

$200 should be ample. Try www.handspan.com which is a reputable company in Hanoi.

do you mean $200 for 2 people, or $200 each? For $200 for 2 people not sure you will get equivalent to 3-star hotel, by western standards.
The Santa Maria (reviewed by many people on Trip Advisor) is about $100 per person and gets mixed reviews. we took the Valentine, one of the most luxury junks, and it was $200 per person (plus transfers)and was 4 to 5-star.
I would check out the handspan website and wee what they are offering in your price range, but be very cautious if it's $200 TOTAL. You can save some money by getting transfers included.
