Thanks so much Kim for the offer, that is really kind of you. I would hate to get you up that early in the morning though!

Right now we're still making up our minds what to do with those two nights. We've added Kamakura into the mix so that's another possibility. It seems from all of my guidebooks like a nice place to relax and do some sightseeing for a day or so. I'm reading Shogun now so it has that appeal as well. I'll come to a decision in the next couple of days.

laurie,

If you are reading Shogun and like it you have to go to Nikko .

That is where they built shrines and temples to Tokugawa Ieyasu(Lord Toranaga in the book Shogun).

We wee in Nikko 3 years ago, albeit for a day trip, not overnight. I'm still thinking about going there this trip but Kamakura has the appeal of being seaside and that we've never been there before.

I'm still not sure if I really like Shogun. I'm on about page 185. Everyone keeps telling me it gets really good after the beginning. Well, the book is like 1200 pages long so what is after the beginning? Page 400??????

hahaha....I read the book twice and loved it.

I love James Clavell(sp)
Taipan, Noble House, Shogun, King Rat and Whirlwind(I have read them all) main characters are all related(family) in one way or the other, so if you can get through Shogun you still have a lot of reading to do

Rent the dvd and save some time.lol

Aloha!
