mrwunrfl, I am somewhat surprised Seal Beach did not get more action from waves. The video I saw after the recent Chilean earthquake shows lots of water all over the streets of Seal Beach.
I think Scarlett's son came back from Japan. But doesn't his wife's family live there?
I am so glad to hear that Kim is ok. And Lcuy and Ken in Hawaii too.
Every time I see a video of that water going 500 miles per hr into Sendai, it takes my breath away and then makes me cry. I am hearing estimates of 1K people gone, but it seems like it will be more. I don't know how anyone could survive that onslaught of 500 mph water.
And now the nuclear reactors are over heating. This could get worse.
Heavy heart here. I love Japan and the people there have a special place in my heart, as they do in so many other hearts on this board.

Just caught up with the news on BBC Breakfast. Seems as though there have been explosions at two nuclear plants at Fuhushima. Does't seem to be a major incident at this stage - let pray it stays that way.
I have also just read the post above by merckxxx. What sort of moron writes insensitive crap like that? Let hope the editors ban him/her permanently.

ht, all is ok. thanks. but frightful night after the quake with numerous aftershocks. good thing they live in a well built mori bldg.
imagine, my original plan was to leave in a week to tokyo, but i canceled earlier this month.
so much misery,and apprehension for all living in japan. sad, very sad.

A small thing compared to the devastation that the people are experience, but I suppose that the pines on the Matsushima have been swept away. The trees will recover as will the wonderful people of Japan.

I'm very relieved that KimJapan and our Hawaiian friends are safe. I feel awful about what has happened in Japan and for all of the death and destruction. Ken, doesn't your son live in Japan? I assume he is okay since you seem rather calm.

Good to hear that KimJapan is alright. I just left Japan earlier this week and heard of the earthquake on my way back home, very upsetting news. Have had many good trips to Japan, the country is clean the people are always helpful and polite and everything operates on time in an organized manner. emd3, said it better than I when he/she wrote "I love Japan and the people there have a special place in my heart, as they do in so many other hearts on this board." Hope the worst is over and things in Japan improve for those affected by this disaster.

A relative told me that her friend's parents were in the Japan earthquake area but that day they had gone up in the hills to another hotel and found out later the hotel where they previously stayed had collapsed.
My heart goes out to all those affected by the earthquake and resulting tsunami's.

My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Japan and everyone affected by this devastating natural disaster. You have friends all around the world who are praying for you and wish we could be with you to help you even if it was just to hold your hand. Don't lose hope, don't lose faith, this is a world event. If you have survived, you will be alright. God bless you.

Terrible images coming from Japan.
I have lots of friends in and around Tokyo, can't even get email through to them.
Parents of my Japanese boss, live near the quake zone, he was walking round like a zombie not being able to find out anything.
Prayers for them all.
