Is there a Train from Penang to KL???
Hi,
I'm thinking of flying into Penang for 2 days in sept and then wish to take a Train to KL.
I've heard over here (Ireland) that you can get a train that goes through the jungle on the way to KL. Can anybody shed light on this??
I need to start putting an itinerary together and want to find out if this is do-able?
Please help..
Thanks,
Oisin

According to my guidebooks, there are trains from KL to Butterworth, next to the ferry terminal and you can get a ferry to Gerogetown from there. The ferry takes 15 minutes from the mainland to Penang.

The train often referred to as the jungle train runs up the East Coast from either Kuala Lumpur or Singapore. Connection to the Trai border and to the Thai railroad station at Sungai Kolok can be made from Pasir Mas.
Penang is on the West Coast. Train leaves Butterworth at 21.30 and arrives next morning at 6.35.
