Info needed soon- Honest jewler in Bangkok?

We are leaving for Bangkok on Thursday, Dec. 14th. WE will have three nights in Bangkok unescorted. After that we leave for a bike and active trip with a small group in Viet Nam, followed by a short visit to Ankor Wat, Cambodia.
I have been reading the posts of Bill Kathie, Gpanda and orther wonderful Fodor's contributors and I wish to thank you for your great information.
We are planning to buy some jewlery in Bangkok and hope to go to S & J International jewlers. Kathie, is it OK to use your name? Who should we ask to help us?
Do you know the discount from the listed web prices? Any other off the beaten track "Must Do's" in Bangkok. WE did the typical sightseeing trip last time we were there about 4 years ago. Can't wait! Thanks! Mickey

I thought this might help you out. We are in Bangkok and only today visited S J International Jewelry. Ask for Lillie and mention Kathie from Seattle. They are great and even picked us up from our hotel. They gave us a good discount(check on line first from their website) and then you may get an idea of original price. Kathie has shared this place with everyone, and Lillie said that many people are recommended by her. Thanks again, Kathie for the great jewelry find.

Yes, SJ is great. Bought my jewels last summer and am off to buy more soon. Am also taking a friend's Brazillian gem stones with me to have made into gold earrings. Lily is very easy to work with. Happy Travels!

an alternative to the large emporium style of buying jewels in bangkok is to visit the small family owned thai stone jewelry in the nana hotel lobby, soi 4, sukhumvit rd....very close to the nana skytrain stop..

we have been dealing with 'porn' and mr lee there for over 10 years, and last monday picked up our 2006 purchases from them...

they all know us in there so say bob and karen sent you...
