Indra Gandi Airport to Park Hotel, New Delhi

We will be arriving at the airport at 5 AM 1 Nov. and will be staying at the Park Hotel on Parliament St. (near Connaught Square) Would apprecite any recommendations concerning best way to get to the hotel and what it might cost to take a taxi. Any suggestions concerning sights to see or restaurants to try in that area would also be appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob

Suggest you have the hotel meet you rather than dealing with a taxi. Connaught Square is not a recommended area. Hotel restaurants are best but not at the Park (I have stayed there for one night). Suggest you check other posts here or a guide book for sights, none of which are within walking distance of the Park. You could arrange a private tour locally or just hire a driver once you know what you want to do.

Craig is right. Do not exit the airport without a pre-arranged lift. Even the pre-paid airport transfers are risky. I know, having been driven through the deserted streets of Delhi, held to ransom by two idiot thieves. My screeching for the police was louder than their incompetence. So, just for me - pay too much and get the hotel to do it for you.

And be very careful people don't throw pooh on your shoes. That's not a lotta fun, either.

Thanks to all of you for your good suggestions....we have decided to go ahead and arrange for a vehicle ahead of time to pick us up and take us to the hotel.
