I was quoted!!! :-)

I know lots of you have been quoted but boy it sure is exciting the first time it happens. ;-) Just wanted to share I was quoted in the Fodors China, 7th edition in a review I did of a restaurant.

I've chosen the Fodors Egypt 4th edition as my gift, our daughter is there at the moment and is loving it, dh wants to go, so I thought the book would help me decide.

Let the planning begin.

It's fun when Fodors quotes you, isn't it? Congrats!

Congratulations, Aussie Dreamer! I was quoted too, and it really is fun choosing where to go next, and anticipating a new Fodors book. In my very simple quote, I just noted that in Beijing in hot weather, choose what is really important to you to do first, because you may not have energy left to do more. I'm going back in October to see some more - July is far too tiring!

I went to Egypt in 1964, back in the days when getting to Europe from Australia meant a five week sea voyage, through the Suez Canal. We stopped at Aden, then had a bus trip to Cairo and the Pyramids, travelled by bus along the canal and embarked again at the other end, Suez as I remember. How the world has changed since those days - lots of pink countries have changed colour on the map since then. That day in Cairo, banners and posters were everywhere for a visit by Kruschev!

I'm sure you'll enjoy the planning - our "bible" at the time was "Europe on $5 a day"!! Imagine!

I was quoted too, but in the Africa guide. I guess they didn't want to include my description of our Japanese toilet.

How do you know what book you've been quoted in? I've twice gotten the notice that I've been quoted, but I don't know what books it was in!

The email I received from the lovely Amy mentions the book in the first sentence and also includes my quote:

"Congratulations! You were quoted in Fodor's The Complete African Safari Planner, 2nd Edition along with other travelers like you as a part of the guide's "Word of Mouth" feature.....Your quote appears in chapter Kenya and reads as follows:....."

What lovely comments, thanks all. I too was told the book in the email from Amy and the option to receive a copy of that book or another of my chosing.

"Dear aussiedreamer,
Congratulations! You were quoted in Fodor's China, 7th Edition along with other travelers like you as a part of the guide's "Word of Mouth" feature".

Congrats Aussiedreamer, it is a thrill! The hardest part for me was deciding whether I wanted to see my quote in print or to choose a book for our next trip.

I forgot to say that now, when people ask what you do for a living, you can say you are a travel writer

Thanks everyone. I checked and my email address was about 5 years out of date, so I updated it.
